OAB-UK International Standards
Training Standards
Training
1.Training is an essential process for change and the development of professional, technical, and academic skills. Therefore, it is governed by foundations and standards that aim to achieve the ultimate goal of training for participants.
2.The most crucial training standards:
- Trainees must undergo a training needs assessment or a pre-test that measures their needs, which helps the trainer develop a flexible training plan that achieves the trainees’ goals and meets their training needs according to a training package approved by a reputable accreditation body. This flexibility allows the trainer to modify the content of the training package, empowering them to tailor the training to their specific needs.
- Training, conducted based on an internationally accredited training package provided by internationally certified trainers from OAB-UK, through internationally accredited training centres or platforms, ensures that our training community is part of a prestigious global network of excellence.
3.Obtaining accreditation from the OAB-UK for trainers and training institutions is a multi-step process. It involves applying for international professional membership status, accrediting training packages, and passing international examinations. This process enables the achievement of the international standards set by the OAB-UK in the field of training.
4.The training must be conducted by a training provider (individual or training institution) accredited by a local or international training body that monitors the quality of training.
5.The training provider must have international or local accreditation for the training resources, which are the trainer, the training package for training institutions, and the training package for individuals (the trainer).
6.The OAB-UK’s standards include issuing an OAB-UK accreditation certificate, which confirms that the holder has met the OAB-UK’s international standards for training and grants them international status. The Council issues the following accreditation certificates:
- Training Provider Accreditation Certificate
- Trainer Certification Certificate
- Training Bag Accreditation Certificate
- International Examination Accreditation Certificate
- OAB-UK Agent Accreditation Certificate
First: The standards recognised by the OAB-UK
- OAB-UK International Standards recognize training provided by individuals (independent trainers) or training institutions (training center, training company, institute, university, college, academy, association, platform), provided that training is provided for training packages that have been accredited by trainers who are certified according to the standards of the OAB-UK.
- OAB-UK International Standards recognise all three types of training:
- Face-to-face training, whether in a training hall or online via multi-faceted communication programs such as Zoom, Google Meet, and other chat rooms.
- Online recorded training is provided through accredited and recognised training platforms, with the trainee taking a final exam, achieving a pass rate of more than 75%.
- Research-based training: The trainer provides the trainee with the training curriculum and necessary references. The trainee then prepares a scientific research paper that complies with the American Psychological Association (APA) standards. A specialised committee, consisting of experienced professionals in the field, evaluates the research, and the trainee is awarded an internationally accredited OAB-UK certificate upon meeting the committee’s requirements. The committee has the right to decide whether to subject the participant to a final exam, in which they achieve a passing score of 75% or higher.
- OAB-UK International Standards recognises package-based training that is accredited by the OAB-UK and organised by individuals or training institutions.
- OAB-UK International Standards recognise independent trainers who market their courses independently without being affiliated with any training centre, and who deliver their courses in hotel halls, rented halls, or through synchronous internet applications.
- OAB-UK International Standards recognises the accreditation of trainers collaborating with OAB-UK Internationally Accredited Training Centres.
- In addition to offering training courses and diplomas, OAB-UK recognises training activities and issues certificates to participants. These certificates are published on the international certification website of the following body:
- Training workshop
- The conference
- The forum
- Exhibitions of all kinds
- Scientific seminars
- Community Initiatives Activities
- Volunteer work
- OAB-UK does not recognise the following course titles:
- Bachelor’s degree or professional bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree or professional master’s degree
- Training for a doctorate or a professional doctorate
This is because these names are used for postgraduate academic studies, and their certificates are granted exclusively by universities. They are not training names, which refer to practical skills and knowledge, but rather academic names, which are awarded for academic achievement and research.
- OAB-UK does not grant accreditation to medical training programs that require participants to hold university degrees in a specific field of medical science, due to the responsibility and excessive standards necessary to regulate them. This exception applies to courses in public health, clinical health, and physical health, which do not require prior medical knowledge from participants.
Second: Approved training fields
OAB-UK has classified the training areas it accredits into 20 main areas, and awards accreditations in all of these areas. These areas are as follows:
Languages and translation
Human and Administrative Skills
Self-development and soft Skills
Financial and Accounting Sciences
Training of trainers, teachers, and lecturers
Information Technology
Design and Programming
Special Education
Engineering Field
Field of Law
Press and Media
Tourism, Hotels and Restaurants
Sales and Marketing
Fine Arts
Professional Qualification
Industry field
Hardware Maintenance
Agricultural Field
Sharia and Religious Sciences
Complementary and Alternative Medicine
Health and Sport
* The OAB-UK does not accredit courses in the field of modern medicine, except some general health, clinical and physical education courses that do not require participants to hold a university degree in the field of modern medical sciences.
Note: There is overlap and convergence between some fields, encompassing all training fields and their various names used in different countries. The closest field is chosen, with the possibility of selecting more than one field, as determined by the training institutions and trainers, provided that the total number of fields does not exceed three.
Third: Standards for training hours and training duration
Training hour
- The duration of the approved training hour is 45-50 minutes.
Number of training program hours
- The training package, prepared and designed by the trainer, determines the number of hours in the training program, depending on the training content and activities included in the package.
- The number of training program hours is based on the training system and method adopted by the trainer during the preparation of the training package, as OAB-UK adopts two systems related to the duration of the training.
- Actual training system
This system relies on providing training entirely within the training hall, and the actual number of training hours is limited to those offered during the training sessions. It is suitable for face-to-face courses within the training hall and academic courses in general.
- Intensive training system
In this system, training is divided into two parts: the first is the training that takes place in the training hall, and the second is the training tasks that the trainer requests to be carried out outside the training hall. This is suitable for professional and technical training courses that focus on the trainee acquiring specific skills through practical application outside the training hall. This system is calculated based on the ’10/16 rule’, which means for every 10 hours in the training hall, the trainee is expected to spend 16 hours on practical tasks, as the minimum, and ’40/90 rule’, which means for every 40 hours in the training hall, the trainee is expected to spend 90 hours on practical tasks, as the maximum.
That is, every 40 hours in the training hall corresponds to a maximum of 50 hours of work outside the training hall, and the maximum training hours are recorded on the certificate, i.e. 90 hours in our example.
Every 10 hours spent in the training hall corresponds to a maximum of 6 hours of work outside the training hall, and the minimum training hours recorded on the certificate are 16 hours.
Training hours are rounded up to the nearest even hour according to this system.
The following table illustrates the number of hours according to this system.
Training day
- A training day is the number of training hours per day. It consists of several training sessions with a break in between. The total number of training days constitutes the total training duration.
- The OAB-UK classification is based on the fact that the minimum training day is one hour and one training session, and the maximum training day is eight hours of training. The minimum training session duration is one hour, with a maximum of three hours.
- Accredited training programs are divided into three types:
- The training workshop alone accounts for the highest eight training hours.
- The training course alone requires a minimum of 6 training hours.
- The training diploma alone requires a minimum of 70 training hours.
- Trainers in the professional field where experience is the basis for accreditation
- The trainer must have at least 5 years of experience in the field in which he wishes to train (years of university study are counted for academics)
- The trainer must have completed courses in the field of training trainers (at least 50 training hours)
- The trainer must have completed training courses in the field for which they wish to be accredited, totalling at least 50 training hours.
- The trainer must have at least one training package (program or training course) in the training field in which they wish to be accredited, and they should have implemented actual training on this package for several trainees
Fourth: Training standards for language courses
Language Course Training Standards
What are the international standards for language courses and English language courses?
The course is considered to meet the standards of the OAB-UK if the following conditions are met:
First: Reliability
- The training centre offering the course must be accredited by an international accreditation body (such as OAB-UK) or another reputable accreditation body.
- The trainer who delivers the course must be accredited by an international accreditation body (OAB-UK) or any other reputable accreditation body.
- The training package for the course must be accredited by an international accreditation body (OAB-UK) or any other recognised accreditation body.
- The training package for the course should be based on a global series and comply with the standards of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.CEFR
Second: Accepting and graduating students CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- Before being accepted, the student must take an accredited English language proficiency exam based on an internationally recognised system, such as the Common European Framework of Reference.CEFR
Note: OAB-UK offers all students wishing to register at accredited language centres an exam.OCEC International free
- Participants in English language courses must be assessed at the end of each course based on OAB-UK-approved exams covering the course curriculum, and the student must achieve a pass rate of at least 75% to move on to the next course.
- That certificates bearing an international number issued by OAB-UK be issued to trainees after the completion of the courses, and that the certificates be authenticated on the International Certificates Website.
Third: Training system
- English is taught using a training approach based on a personalised training plan for each trainee, addressing language gaps in a manner appropriate to their language level. The plan is determined based on the results of the International English Proficiency Examination. It focuses on equipping the trainee with language skills and achieving the objectives for which they participated in the courses, in a manner that suits their time and abilities.
- English language teaching is done according to modern learning theories to ensure the acquisition of language skills.
- The courses focus on skills and practical application, not just grammar and vocabulary.
Fourth: Course system
- Stability of courses in terms of system, fees and quality, ensuring that the trainee saves time, effort and cost.
- Providing all types of courses, from foundation courses, levels, advanced skills courses, and preparatory courses for international exams.
- The courses offered by the training centre include all ages and levels.
- Courses are available online or in person.
