The candidate accepts the terms of OAB-UK and its partners, who play a crucial role in the OAB’s certification process, such as exam proctors and training providers. These partners are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and are only granted access to the necessary information for the certification process.

European Union and European Economic Area Resident Privacy Notice OAB-UK is a leading Training and Certification institution, and consumer privacy is one of the essential tenets of our activities. OAB-UK complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (“GDPR”), as much as applicable to our activities. OAB-UK may receive, maintain, or transmit personal information (“PI”) (as defined below) in its course of business. PI includes, but is not limited to, Candidate name, address, email address, Employer Name, Certification and Assessment information, pictures and any other information provided by the candidate on the website membership area or to the training or testing centre. We ensure that any transfer of your personal information outside the EU or EEA is done in compliance with the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws.

OAB-UK is committed to transparency. We inform individuals about the purpose for which we collect and use information about them, how to contact us with inquiries or complaints, the choices and means we offer individuals to limit its use and disclosure, and how we secure it. OAB-UK does not intend to disclose customers’ personal information to a third party or use the collected data for a purpose incompatible with the purpose(s) for which it was initially collected. If OAB-UK wishes to disclose personal information collected to a third party, appropriate notice and choice will be issued to the individuals to whom the personal information pertains.

Personal information collected by OAB-UK is relevant for the purpose for which it is to be used. OAB-UK does not process or use personal information in a way incompatible with the purpose for which it has been collected or subsequently authorised by the candidate. Before granting access to personal information, OAB’s staff are thoroughly briefed on using personal data consistent with OAB’s privacy policy.

Access, Correction, and Deletion OAB-UK ensure that individuals have access to the personal data they have provided to OAB. Individuals will be able to correct, amend, or delete that information, except where the burden or expense of providing access would be disproportionate to the risks to the individual’s privacy in the case in question, where the rights of persons other than the individual would be violated, or as otherwise permitted by the GDPR. OAB-UK employs role-based permissions to ensure adequate access and security to the stored personal information.

OAB-UK is responsible for taking all reasonable steps to protect data transferred to third parties. OAB-UK requires such third parties to enter into contracts, ensuring that your data is only processed for the limited and specified purposes consistent with your authorisation. We will take all reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure that the third-party recipient effectively processes the personal information. OAB-UK provides recourse mechanisms to individuals to ensure compliance with the GDPR. OAB’s internal recourse and dispute resolution mechanism is readily available and transparent and addresses individuals’ privacy concerns. OAB-UK acknowledges the possibility, under certain conditions, for individuals to invoke binding arbitration.   • Dispute Resolution Mechanism

OAB-UK is subject to the investigatory and enforcement powers of the United Kingdom authorities and will cooperate with the European Data Protection Authorities (“DPAs”) to provide dispute resolution mechanisms for individuals to whom the data is related. OAB-UKshall cooperate with the DPAs in the investigation and resolution of complaints brought under United Kingdom laws and will comply with any advice given by the DPAs where the DPAs take the view that OAB-UKneeds to take specific action to comply with relevant laws and Principles, including remedial or compensatory measures for the benefit of individuals affected by any non-compliance with the Principles.

The Chief Technology Officer of OAB-UK shall serve as the contact point for GDPR-related information requests, assessments and discussions.

  • Deletion Request Rights

You agree that you will not be able to request that the terms of your application with OAB erase your Data. You agree to the retention of your Personal Data, including your test results, by OAB-UK and their partners as the processor as long as instructed by OAB.

We endeavour to respond to a verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of receipt. If we require more time (up to 45 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing.
