What is the OCEC exam?

Oxford certificate of English competency (OCEC)

The Oxford English Proficiency Test (OCEC) is a universal standards test for measuring individual language competence in terms of learning, teaching, assessment, classification of applicants according to levels of ability to communicate in English as well as knowledge of grammar and English.

The exam was designed to measure the language abilities when using English in non-English speakers

The OCEC test is based on the internationally recognized CEFR standards which classify non-native language levels into six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2.

The importance of the OCEC exam academically

The test is designed to measure the efficiency of the individual in English and is the most common and used language in the world for communication, science and work. The exam uses three basic academic goals: learning, teaching, evaluation. The development and mastery of English is the passport that opens the doors to migration, study and work around the world, so the OCEC exam is the first step in shaping the future.

Learning

The individual’s need to learn English and develop his or her language skills is determined by assessing the level of language in accordance with international standards. This is clearly demonstrated by the OCEC exam, which helps to determine the starting point in language learning and to develop a training plan based on the parallel logical sequence In the teaching and development of the basics of English (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation) and four skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to master.

Evaluation

The English language consists of two main sections: Language Input, Vocabulary , Grammar, and other basic skills. The second is Language Skills, which includes (Reading, Writing, Conversation, Listening) and all are measured through the CEFR to assess the language proficiency of anyone who wants to learn English or to develop his language skills, knowledge of where to start learning the language and the program needed to develop their language to the desired level of proficiency in English language skills

Teaching

 The work of the OCEC exam with the CEFR system as an internationally accepted standard makes the examination a basic procedure for determining a standardized methodology for teaching English away from the differentiated judgment system in the results. Therefore, the use of internationally standard procedures contributes to the achievement of quality educational outcomes.

Integrity of the OCEC exam

the test results are consistent with the six A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 standards defined by the CEFR, universally accepted by more than 140 countries worldwide, including government agencies, universities, academic institutions and companies .

The exam will be held 48 times throughout the year every Saturday from 11: 00-1: 30 in all accredited exam centers across the Middle East.

The test is conducted through the website. The exam is less than two hours long and and the result  within three days

The validity of the certificate is only two years. The exam depends on the system of the question bank. The personal identity of the applicant is approved and the attendance is half an hour before the test to verify the identity.

The OCEC certification helps you improve the language skills you need to succeed in school and work. The test fits a wide range from school and university students to job seekers, postgraduate students, aspiring to develop their language skills, and aspire to travel and immigration.

Types of OCEC exam:

Second: Junior Test OCEC

This test is for children aged 10-14 years

OCEC Junior evaluates the basics of language from basic rules, words, and skills based on input (reading, listening)

The duration of the exam is 55min and is submitted on a stage which is Online Test

After the correction of the test, the student receives an internationally recognized certificate from the Oxford Academy that includes the final test result

Final test mark: The minimum test is A1 and B2

First: adults Test OCEC

This test is for adults and age group 15 years and over

OCEC evaluates four English language skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening) as well as grammar basics, words and pronunciation

The exam is 100min and is offered in three stages

1-First Phase : Online Test – 55min

Includes reading and listening skills as well as rules and meanings of words

2- Second Phase: Paper Test – 30min

Includes writing skill test

3- Third Phase : Interview – 15min

Includes a conversation skill test

After the correction of the test, the student receives an internationally recognized Oxford Academy Certificate that includes the final test result and the result of each skill.

Final test mark: The minimum test is A1 and C2
